Dog scarf started!

The dog hair scarf has officially been started!  It still sheds…quite a bit, but I’m hoping that it’ll stop eventually.  It should.  Anyways, it’s turning out wonderfully and I decided to use a stitch pattern from Barbara G. Walker’s Treasury of Knitting Patterns.

I bought my copy used from  A nice first or second edition hard back.  The scarf is really fuzzy, like mohair, and it’s gorgeous!  I still have some Chow Chow hair from my dog and I’m thinking about blending it for a scarf now!  It’s just so neat!  This is the first time I’ve knitted with dog hair, and it knits up nicely.  I haven’t knitted pure dog hair yet, but will soon.  Yay for dog hair scarves!

  1. Knitting with dog hair is such a cool idea, let the world (ok, me) know how you get on! The thing I’ve always wondered though, what will it smell like when it gets wet? Hmm…

  2. It turned out great! the pictures are under “Finished honey scarf” in the blog. I will be offering custom dog hair spinning in my Etsy shop soon!

And yes, when it gets wet, it’ll still smell a little of dog 🙂
